Amy Couper, MSW, is a Licensed Social Worker (LSW) dedicated to providing a welcoming, validating, and non-judgmental environment where clients can safely explore their identities and build hope, self-worth, self-compassion, and resilience. Amy earned her Master of Social Work from Aurora University after transitioning from a successful career in finance to pursue her passion for mental health. Inspired by the unique challenges adolescents faced during the COVID-19 pandemic, Amy developed a strong commitment to supporting youth through difficult times. She is currently pursuing her clinical licensure and has experience working with adolescents in both individual and group therapy within outpatient mental health and school settings.
Amy’s clinical internship was completed at an outpatient behavioral health center, where she worked with adolescents experiencing acute depression and anxiety. She has also served as a school social worker, gaining in-depth experience with Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and supporting children and adolescents ages 3 to 18 who face depression, anxiety, executive functioning difficulties, impulsive behaviors, cognitive distortions, rigid thinking, gender and sexual identity concerns, and school avoidance.
Amy adopts a holistic, person-centered approach, taking the time to understand each client’s unique life experiences and how they shape their present challenges. She utilizes evidence-based, developmentally appropriate therapeutic modalities, including psychotherapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and trauma-informed care, all while practicing cultural humility. Amy is passionate about helping clients identify and nurture their strengths, empowering them to build confidence, develop self-advocacy skills, and access resources to support their mental health and overall well-being.
