Sarah is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Illinois. She obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Bradley University, and her Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology. She completed her internship at the Metropolitan Preparatory Schools in Arlington Heights. Sarah provides individual therapy to children, adolescents and adults, and families. She specializes in anxiety, anger management, depression, life transition issues, adolescence and crisis intervention, with a particular interest in working with adolescents and young adults. Sarah believes fostering a trusting therapeutic relationship is in itself, a significant agent of change. She provides a warm, down-to-earth and supportive environment which helps cultivate this relationship and encourages change. She enjoys helping others recognize their individual potential and to work towards inner peace and happiness, identifying and breaking down any barriers that get in the way. She considers the unique needs & goals of each individual, and customizes treatment accordingly, utilizing elements from several evidence-based treatment models. These often include: Client Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Guided Meditation/Imagery and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
Sarah has 12 years’ experience in the field working with children, adolescents and adults with a variety of mental health and substance abuse issues. She has provided individual and group therapy at the nationally accredited Linden Oaks Hospital, with a special focus in working with children and adolescents in the inpatient setting. She has also spent many years working in the crisis department, providing assessment and support to patients presenting with psychiatric emergencies in the Emergency Room, Medical Floors and Intake Department of the Linden Oaks at Edward Hospital.
In addition to working as an outpatient therapist at Oswego Wellness, Sarah continues to hold a position at Linden Oaks Hospital. She currently works as the primary clinician at the Assessment & Referral Center at Edward-Elmhurst Hospital in Plainfield. In this role, Sarah provides level of care assessments and crisis intervention to individuals of all ages; connecting them with the mental health and/or chemical dependency services that meet their individual needs.
