Joy is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Illinois. Along with a Bachelors from University of Illinois-Champaign, she has a Masters in School & Community Counseling from National-Louis University and a Certification in Alcohol and Drug Addiction Counseling from College of DuPage. Joy’s interest in health and fitness evolved into a passion for using the latest finding about mindfulness and brain science to work on her own personal development. By adopting the most helpful of these practices, she has been able to help men, women, and adolescents seeking long-term relief for their physical and emotional pain.
Joy believes that we all have an innate ability to heal and learn to self-regulate our mind and body. She is a person-centered, strengths-based therapist who is known to integrate the evidence-based therapies of the West with the wisdom of ancient healing practices of the East to accelerate healing and growth. No two therapy sessions are alike as Joy attunes to each client’s individual needs and incorporates appropriate techniques from Brainspotting, Acceptance Commitment, EFT Tapping, Internal Family Systems, Somatic Experiencing, Alignment-based Pilates, and Mindful Cognitive Therapy.
Whatever your struggle, be it debilitating anxiety, depression, grief, ADHD, addiction, trauma, chronic pain, eating disorder, relationship challenges or career/life transitions, be encouraged in knowing that you are not alone and help is very near. Joy is grateful to have the opportunity to come alongside individuals and families who are ready to experience personal transformation and live awake.
