Erin Carlson

Erin is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor who obtained her master’s degree in clinical psychology from Benedictine University.  Erin has worked in community mental health and private practice settings over the past 8 years where she has served a variety of populations including children, teens, adults and families.  As a Certified Synergetic Play Therapist Erin utilizes neuroscience to assist clients in understanding how their nervous system impacts their functioning and implementing tools to assist in regulation.   

Erin works with children as young as 3, adolescents and adults who are struggling with anxiety, depression, ADHD, Autism, grief, life transitions such as divorce and career changes, and parenting concerns.  Erin’s training is rooted in client centered, behavioral and neuroscience and she utilizes a variety of modalities such as art, movement, cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, synergetic play therapy, sand tray and nature-based therapy techniques. 

When working with children, Erin believes that partnering with parents to assist them in developing skills and tools to best support their children when they experience big emotions.  Erin incorporates neuroscience in her work with parents to help them understand the why behind their children’s behaviors.  Erin hopes to provide a safe, nonjudgmental space for children, adolescents and adults to feel empowered to navigate through their mental health concerns in today’s always changing world.
