DAWN S. REICH
Dawn is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Illinois. She obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of Michigan, and her Master’s Degree in Counseling from Michigan State University. Dawn has 15 years of counseling experience working with adolescents as a school counselor in the Bloomingdale School District. While specializing in working with adolescents, Dawn also partners with parents to help provide them with strategies to support their child’s success. Prior to her work as a school counselor Dawn also gained experience working briefly in a residential treatment setting, as well as a therapeutic day school.
Dawn has experience supporting adolescents struggling with anxiety, school avoidance / refusal, depression, ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, sensory processing disorder, as well as difficulties with social skills, bullying, academic performance and self-esteem. While providing counseling services in a school setting, Dawn has gained a unique perspective on not only the impact of the school day on adolescents, but also how the family as a whole is integral to their success. She utilizes evidence-based counseling strategies including cognitive behavioral therapy and mindfulness and focuses on a strengths-based approach. She recognizes that we all face various struggles in life, and at the same time are each given unique gifts to share. Once we learn how to manage life’s challenges, we are able to find joy in the journey, identify and share our gifts, and reach our full potential.
